Pray Intentionally for OBCC Today
Part 2: The Prayer and the Take Away
OPEN IT
The prayer section of the infographic begins with a simple request: “Lord, help us handle relationships with care.” That prayer fits the full theme of the series, Caution: Handle With Care, because relationships are sacred places where words can either build up or tear down.
In Matthew 18:15–17, Jesus gives a path for confronting sin and restoring fellowship. The aim is never humiliation. The aim is restoration. This makes confrontation a spiritual responsibility, not a personal weapon.
EXPLORE IT
The prayer asks God for courage, humility, wisdom, and love. It recognizes that hard conversations require more than boldness. They require surrender to Christ. We need courage to speak, humility to receive correction, patience to listen, and grace to seek reconciliation.
Galatians 6:1 teaches that restoration must be done gently. James 5:19–20 reminds us that helping someone return to truth is an act of spiritual rescue. Proverbs 27:5–6 shows that loving correction may be painful, but it can also be faithful.
Revelation 3:19 reminds us that Christ Himself corrects those He loves. Therefore, when correction is guided by the Spirit, it should reflect the heart of Jesus: truthful, loving, patient, and redemptive.
GET IT
The takeaway is clear: the goal is restoration, not winning. Before we speak, we should ask whether our motive is love or frustration, healing or control, reconciliation or self-defense.
Ask Before You Speak
- Is my motive restoration?
- Have I prayed first?
- Am I speaking truth with love?
- Am I willing to listen?
- Will this conversation help someone move closer to Christ?
Practical Application
- Pray before confronting.
- Check your motives.
- Speak gently and honestly.
- Listen carefully.
- Pursue reconciliation.
- Encourage spiritual growth.
APPLY IT
The prayer for OBCC today is that the church would become a people who handle relationships with spiritual care. That means refusing gossip, avoiding harshness, rejecting silence when love requires truth, and choosing words that help others grow in Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, give us the courage to speak truth in love. Protect us from avoiding difficult conversations when Your wisdom calls us to act. Give us humble hearts that receive correction without defensiveness. Help us examine our motives before confronting others so that restoration—not judgment—becomes our goal. Teach OBCC to become a church family where grace and truth walk together. Amen.
Memory Verse:
“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:15
